What Polymer Clay is

Polymer Clay is a fantastic low cost material that can be used in jewelry making alone or in combination with other materials, like metal clays, sterling silver, resins etc.  Artists are also using it in sculpting and doll making.

Polymer clay is a plastic soft material. It comes in a lot of different colors and it can be found in the market with a lot of different brand names like: FIMO, KATO, PARDO, PREMO, SCULPIE, etc. It cures in low temperature (depends on the brand) in the kitchen oven. There are numerous techniques to combine the different colors of polymer clay; the results are always stunning.

What Exactly is the Introduction to Polymer Clay Course?

It's a full day workshop designed for a very small group of people with no previous experience in jewelry making or the use of Polymer clay. Even a novice by the end of the day will take home beautiful earrings, pendants, beads or other elements that later can incorporate in other projects.

Here are a few of the skills you'll learn through the course:

  • What Polymer Clay is ( the different brands ) and how it can be handled and stored in order to avoid any losses

  • How to use the pasta machine to condition the clay

  • How to roll and texture the clay

  • How to cut it and give it different shapes and forms

  • How to mix it and make different canes

  • How to punch holes to your pieces so that you are able to proudly hang them and wear them after the end of the class session

  • How to refine it

  • How to bake your pieces in the oven

  • How to polish and finish your pieces.
