What Exactly is the Silver and Polymer Clay Combination Course? 

 

It's a full day workshop, designed for a very small group of people with some previous experience in the use of silver metal clay and no previous experience with Polymer Clay.

 

In this class, we will explore the different properties of these two materials and I'll teach you 3 basic canes of Polymer Clay.

 

What makes this class special is the riveting technique we'll use, to attach our Silver parts with the Polymer Clay parts. It's a technique that can be used a lot in your future jewellery making.

 

At the beginning, we'll create the two sides and the bail of the silver pendant,  we'll fire them and polish them. During the time needed for our silver pieces to dry, and during the firing time, we'll start exploring the properties of Polymer Clay. With the Polymer Clay we will create the inlay piece we will use for our combination pendant. Also, I will teach you how to make a lovely polymer clay bracelet or bracelets.

 

Here are a few of the skills you'll learn through the course:

 

• How to handle and store Polymer Clay

• How to use the pasta machine to condition the  Polymer Clay

• How to roll, texture and form the Polymer Clay

• How to cut it in different shapes

• How to bake your pieces

• How to polish your work

• How to make  three different canes ( simple feather cane, skinner blend and a mokume gane )

• How to attach silver and polymer clay pieces with the riveting technique

• How to make your own rivets.
